Getting the Most for your money (Part V)

Shopping Seasonally

Shopping by the season can really save you a lot. Each season their can be an abundance, and on occasion an over abundance of fruit & produce , that can go on sale for incredible prices. This can be a real deal if you like to can, dehydrate or have a readily available deep freeze.
I have included a printable chart for your use in the back.
I have also found that you can get quite a few rather expensive items on deep discount AFTER the holidays. It’s a bit of a family joke that my husband buy’s all my gifts AFTER the holidays when they will cost half to a quarter less than they would DURING the holidays.
I also watch for sales on children’s clothing, guessing what size the children will be for the next season. I have found plenty of clothes that way. Soaps & Body wash for gifts, assorted little bits on sale can be a gift latter. Summer floats & toys can easily be saved for next year.

Scratch & Dent Discounts
Each Store is different & you really must use persuasion to get some scratch & dent Discounts. If an Item is broken, scratched dented, label missing, parts or pieces missing you can ask for a discount of at LEAST half it’s original price. These items could easily go unsold. Approach a sales person, or the main service desk to inquire about such discounts. Each store has a different policy. Whatever you do don’t pay full price for such a product.

Mind if I add my own shopping tip?

Ethnic stores. I'm lucky to live in a town with a very diverse population. The red peppers that are 2.50 each at the regular market are usually 1.50 a lb at the Asian markets... (depending on the size, that's 2 or 3 peppers) You can also buy live catfish there, which they will butcher for you, for anywhere from $.69 to $1.29. Many of the veggies are about half the price of the other markets. And the mid-eastern Halal market is about the only place that I can find lamb, usually about 2.25 a lb. The Mexican markets are much cheaper on some items too... If you have access to them, check them out!

Note : I totally agree , if any of you can get to these type of markets , you will be suprised. I used to have access in TX to a large variety of ethnic stores , I could walk out with a cart load of stuff for about $25. I now although live in an area without many ethnic stores. I although did find an AMISH store that sells various herbs , and seeds at rock bottom prices (not to mention insanely good squash prices).

Please Don't act a fool. If you feel the need to although, I will replace it with silliness.

I am a Akward conversationalist , Sometimes I just don't know what to say back. Even if I have something to say. So please don't let my silence come off condescending.
